When the bride wants an alfresco reception the bride gets an alfresco reception!
How they met:
Molly and Jordy went to Coast in downtown Charleston for their first date. Jordy chose this spot without knowing it was one of Molly’s favorites so he already scored some major points! On their second date walking on the battery, Molly realized how much they had in common. On a trip to Barbados that spring, they both knew they were falling for one another. Molly says, “Jordy was just always the one and he says the same about me. We just knew we were right for one another.”
The Proposal:
Molly explains, “Jordy is so thoughtful and thinks through everything for life’s big moments. It’s one of the many things I love about him. He asked me on a date one fall evening. He started to drive toward the Battery and said he thought we would walk to dinner. We stroll the Battery all the time, but not usually at night so I thought, ‘Maybe this is it!’ We were walking through White Point Gardens when he started talking about a podcast he listened to and I immediately was like, ‘Guess I was wrong.. he’s talking about a podcast… haha!’ He started talking about how the podcast was about having a vision for your life. He mentioned visions he has had that have come true. He said he always envisioned the woman he would marry and that I was NOT her. He said I was beyond what he ever imagined. He got down on one knee in the gazebo and asked me to marry him- in the place where we met for our second date and the place that has given us so many dates and memories in our relationship. We agreed to facetime our parents then go to dinner. When we got to dinner, my very best friends were all there. Even Mary and Ryan, who flew in from Cape Cod to be there. It was clear this had been in the works a long time.”
The Big Day:
With weather threatening the plans for a gorgeous open-air reception amidst the ruins at Runnymede Plantation, we were preparing for the worst. This amazing couple reassured everyone around them with their cool, calm and collected attitudes regarding the weather. We considered moving everything under the tent, but we ended up sticking to the original plan and COULD NOT be happier that we did! What a BEAUTIFUL evening it shaped up to be!
After the wedding, Molly said, “Our wedding day was everything I hoped for and more. One of my favorite parts was our ceremony. It was so intimate, special, and personal. I have never felt anything like I felt before walking down the aisle… that feeling of all of these people are here to support us in the biggest day of our lives, and I really am marrying that amazing man at the end of the aisle.”
Sunshine, the couples yellow lab, was the perfect flower pup, and their chocolate lab Beau, the best ring bearer. Sunshine yelped at the perfect moment in the ceremony, not able to contain her excitement over her parents marrying. The reception was effortlessly beautiful. Our crafty groom made the head table himself! Molly expressed how it was so special to sit at a table for their first meal as man and wife at a table he had poured so much hard work and love into. “I loved having all of my loved ones in one place to eat and dance. I loved dancing by the Ashley River under a beautiful oak with live music. I will never forget it. My mom’s speech was so personal and sweet. She is my rock. There isn’t a thing I would change! I just wish we could relive it again! “
