Kayla & Matthew – Wild Dunes

Hurricane Who?

What is the worst fear of getting married on the coast in September? Hurricanes!  When you get an email from your planner the week of the wedding with the subject “Hurricane Dorian,” it may cause your heart to stop.  There was talk of pushing the wedding back one day and having it on Sunday as opposed to Saturday, as the hurricane was predicted to hit Charleston on Friday.  Just enough time for the flooding to go down in the North Croquet Lawn at Wild Dunes.  But Kayla and Matt were ready to get married!! We ended up moving their ceremony from the North Croquet Lawn to the Grand Pavilion for an even more beautiful ceremony overlooking the beach, PLUS the koozies still had the correct date 😉

Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Grand Pavilion, and then made their way to the pool deck for dinner.  Swank Desserts whipped up a beautiful black marble cake DURING the hurricane.  At times, we thought the worst case scenario would be if she lost power in her shop!  Luckily, the cake made it through safely and everyone was happy!

Kayla was the most gorgeous beach bride, and just before her first dance she changed into a super fun white flapper-esque dress so she could dance all night!

Wishing these two all the love in the world and no more hurricanes!!
