Signature Cocktail: Dark & Stormy

Have you ever had a hurricane named after you?  When you do, it’s kind of ironic sounding like, “Oh the news keeps mentioning my name, ha ha.”  Have you ever had a hurricane named after you that hit on the day you were supposed to get married?

Wait, what?  Yes, as mother nature’s humor would have it, Hurricane Florence was scheduled to roll in to Charleston the weekend of Shawn and Florence’s wedding.  Mayor Tecklenburg called for a mandatory evacuation.  The city was shutting down, and the wedding would have to be rescheduled.

Not that this would be a good time for any bride.  In fact, most would generally be losing their sh*t, but this was especially heartbreaking because Florence is from London, and her entire family had flown in to our coastal city from the UK, ready to celebrate.

How do you celebrate a wedding that wouldn’t be? Disney World of course! Florence and Shawn’s families loaded up and evacuated to the happiest place on earth, for where else could you go when you are mourning your original wedding date?

Flash forward 7 months, and the day Florence and Shawn had been waiting *especially* long for finally arrived.  The wait paid off because the day was nothing short of perfection.  From the gorgeous sunset to the packed dance floor, this celebration was a long time coming. We wish Florence and Shawn a lifetime of happiness and sunny days! 😉
